Kasey pleaded with me to "play" with my Cannon Power Shot the other day. How could I deny her? Gently I did my best to explain to her the basics of taking pictures and then I released her out into our backyard. One hour and 128 photos later Kasey shared with me her handy work.
Here's wishing that we all find the time to go out and take pictures with a childs eye.
The past week and a half I have spent many miles on southern Indiana roads stopping at rummage sales, barn sales and a handful of antique malls. I've gathered a collection of pretty finds ranging from retro Aladdin thermoses, antique typewriters all the way to vintage cameras, many of which are Polaroids. The last day out I came across a small antique shop in a place called Gnaw Bone Indiana and that is where I met this Kodak Reflex 1A camera and it was love at first sight. It's in fantastic condition, and needed very little cleaning inside or out. Already I have found a camera store in downtown Indianapolis that still sells and processes 120 film which I have bought and modified to fit the camera which originally takes 620.
I haven't been this excited about shooting since I received my SX-70 earlier this year. Bringing these vintage cameras to life is really thrilling and I can not wait to share with you the images from this Reflex in the days to come.

The week is over! Yeah! Tomorrow I tackle my first Indiana based yard sale with hopes of unloading a majority of the stuff that our little house has no room to hold. After the rummage I'm free to run around, cameras in tow and hopefully capture a few lovely pics to share with you all. While running errands with my sister ALL day I found little that was photographically inspiring though I toted around my SX-70 the whole time. By this evening during our last stop at a local Barne's and Noble I pulled out my Cannon PowerShot and turned it on myself for at that point the shirt really said it all. :-)
Via Amanda's always inspiring Mocking Bird blog I came across Susannah Conway's August Break project.
With all the chaos that moving and relocating brings I have definitely been in need of some inspiration and focus when it comes to my photography. So today guided by the simple delight in taking part in the August Break with so many others I went out with my SX 70 and discovered this desolate country road. It was serene, quiet and so far away from everything else...it was exactly what I needed!
My goal is a photo a day, Monday through Friday. We'll see where it leads.

Have you seen this yet? I spotted a blurb for this new Polaroid camera in this months issue of Better Homes and Gardens. If I hadn't already purchased my Fujifilm Instax I'd be placing a pre-order for that pretty blue one! I'm also terribly curious as to when Polaroid's 600 film for their new PIC 1000 will hit the market. Hmmm...
It has rained for four days straight now in Orlando which has made for fine packing weather. Today in between rain showers I took a walk with my SX-70 to get away from the monotony of boxes and packing tape. There is little I haven't attempted to see with a fresh perspective on this little road we've lived on for the past four months but I was really longing to click my camera to life so I snapped an image of this little red flower dampened by the rain.
Two days to go and we'll be on our way to Indiana...the packing continues. Hope you all had a fantastic holiday weekend!
If you've never been to Key West (and I had not until this past week) keep your mind open when you go, regardless of what negative reviews you may hear from others that have gone. It really is a must see for yourself type of place and though it wasn't at all what I had expected I can still say I love it.
